Diagnostics of defects of running vehicles
Defects of running railway vehicles endanger the safety and smoothness of railway traffic. They cause grave material damage both to the vehicles and to the transport route facilities, and they often bring about serious railway accidents.
Since the 1970s, the Czech Railways have been running a system of analogue devices for the diagnostics of temperature (overheating) bearings (IH), and they are building a new system of digital diagnostic devices ASDEK, which include:
- overheating bearing indicator (IH)
- hot felloes, brake shoe and brake disc indicator (IHO)
- flat wheel indicator (IPK)
The measured diagnostic data gained from the measurement spots serve as a basis for the detection of vehicles with defects and their exclusion from further operation. The records and statistical data processing are carried out centrally in the TÚDC, which has developed a special software for the evaluation of the statistical data recorded by the ASDEK device.
